Capsule: The YT-Series is reliable, durable and modifable - hence
its popularity.
There are three standard models, from the basic 1200 to the
standard 1300 and finally, the deluxe model, the 1400.

The model 1200 lacks the bow mandibles, but have instead a small
boom extension forward. However, this means that it cannot take
as much extra equipment due to space limitations.

The model 1300 has the trademark most people associate with the
YT-series, namely the bow mandibles.

The model 1400 is basically a model 1300 with the empty space
between the bow mandibles filled with a cargo hold, configured to
take maximum 60 ton of extra cargo.

Subgroups
The three models can be configured during construction to different
types of standard regarding their maneuverability, hull rating and the
placement of the command pod.
These modifications to the basic design does not warrant any mishap
modifiers since the ships are built to take them as standard.

xx1x means that the ship has its command pod on the starboard
side, while xx2x means it is placed on the port side.
Some vessels have both and are therefore numbered xx3x, however,
both pods are not used to control the ship, one is mostly used to
house powerful sensors or equipment/cargo up to 10 ton in weight.

xxx0 means that the ship has a standard maneuverability of 0D.
xxx1 means that the ship is built to withstand a maneuverability
of 1D.
xxx2 means that the ship is built to withstand a maneuverability
of 2D.

A special offer is the upgrading of the ships hull by two pips, giving
a standard hull rating of 4D+2.
Those ships who have this carry the suffix -R for Reinforced.
Example YT1300-R.

The replacement of the standard systems with improved ones does
not change the model number, which means that there are countless
variations of these three models out in the galaxy.

People does not usually call their ship with the complete model
and variant number, using instead the basic model number to
describe their vessel.

This means that Han Solo's YT1300, the famous Millenium Falcon, is really
an YT1312-R, albeit very heavily modified:)
