The high cost of the Kimstat leaves it out of the range of most of the smaller operators in that field, but ownership of a Kimstat is something that they all strive for. In addition to the listed sensors, Kimstats are equipped with extra-long range sensors that can detect the presence (though not the exact nature) of metallic debris from up to 3 light years away. The Empire has used Kimstats to recover damaged fighters, especially the newer and more advanced TIEs before they could fall into the hands of the Rebel alliance. Kimstats are also the primary ships of Xenoarcheologists interested in recovering primitive spacecraft. Finally, the Kimstat is the dream vehicles of treasure hunters. In fact, a pair of Kimstats, working together, located and brought back 5 of the legendary Iofan Wing Superfighters.
