Capsule: The Nebulon A was the result of an operational need for a
modern Torpedo Frigate. Since it was very expensive and did not quite
fulfill the Imperial Fleet's operational expectations, only a few
hundred were built and most of these do not serve in the intended role
as torpedo frigates; they are mostly used as escort frigates or as
vessels for special missions such as training.
