A need arose for a dedicated bomber which could get to the target fast, and leave in a hurry. Therefore, the K-Wing was developed with the A-Wing's speed in mind along with the usefullness of a Y-Wing. Structurally speaking, this fighter is basically an A-Wing with two horizontal wings, and two wings at a downward 45 degree angle. Each wing come equipped with laser cannons similar to the X-Wing, and yes they burn up easily and must be replaced frequently. The K-Wing also comes equipped with three proton torpedo launcher, which can be fire linked for maximum damage. Due to the fact that this ship is rather small for its payload, every comfort expense was spared. Pilots who are trying to be K-Wing pilots undergo numerous psychological exams to determine even the most accute form of chlosterphobia. Also, when fully armored, the proton torpedos make up 1/4 of the K-Wing's total mass. This also presents a danger in combat, seeing as just a slight peck on the fusulage might be just enough to set off the proton torpedos. Hence, the 2D+1 hull. Overall, this starfighter has proven to be an effective addition to the New Republic...in the right hands. In the wrong hands, or in the hands on an inexperienced pilot, this fighter could be very deadly to ourselves.
