Nevertheless was this the only modern hyperspace-capable fighter available to the Alliance in the beginning. The BTL-F1 has a smaller cockpit than other Y-Wing variants and has a power booster generator placed right behind the pilot in- stead of a gunner. When the higher performing X-Wing came into service were many BTL-F1's converted into BTL-T2 Trainers, but the increased demand for starfighters after the Battle of Yavin means that there are plenty of the BTL-F1 variant still in active duty as fighters, although most of them serves in low-threat areas.
